Garfield County will have a No. 1 seed and one other top-five seed as the Colorado high school boys soccer state playoffs are set to begin later this week.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Glenwood Springs Demons earned the No. 13 seed in the Class 4A playoffs, and will host their first game on Saturday.<\/p>\n

State playoff pairings were announced Monday by the Colorado High School Activities Association.<\/p>\n

Carbondale\u2019s Colorado Rocky Mountain School enters the 12-team 2A state tournament as the top seed in the smaller-school classification. <\/p>\n

The independent college prep school soccer team, under the tutelage of coach Dan Pittz, compiled a 7-3-1 record on the season. <\/p>\n

The Oysters earned a bye to the quarterfinals and won\u2019t play until Nov. 6 versus the winner of a first-round matchup between No. 8 Mile High Academy and No. 9 Denver Christian.<\/p>\n

Rocky Mountain School would host the game. However, depending on the weather over the week, Pittz said the match could be moved to a location that has an artificial turf field.<\/p>\n

Rams No. 5 in 3A<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Across town, the 3A Western Slope League champion Roaring Fork High School Rams earned the No. 5 seed among 32 teams in the state 3A tournament.<\/p>\n

Roaring Fork (11-2-1 overall) will face the No. 28 Peak to Peak Pumas (6-9), likely either Friday or Saturday. Though the Rams would play host, that venue could also be determined by this week\u2019s winter weather, coach Nick Forbes said.<\/p>\n

Other area 3A teams in the playoffs include Basalt at No. 29, playing at No. 4 Aurora West on the road (date and time TBD); and Coal Ridge (5-9-1), seeded 30th and playing at No. 3 Atlas Preparatory School. Salida is the top seed in that division.<\/p>\n

Demons host first-round game <\/strong><\/h4>\n

Glenwood Springs finished a strong season at 10-2-3 but placed second in the 4A Western Slope League, behind the No. 1 4A seed and league champion Battle Mountain.<\/p>\n

The Demons will play No. 20 Standley Lake (9-6) out of the Jefferson County League, at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Stubler Memorial Field.<\/p>\n

Also making the 32-team 4A playoff field is Rifle (10-5), seeded 23rd. The Bears will play No. 10 Discovery Canyon (12-3) out of the Pikes Peak League at 3 p.m. Friday in Colorado Springs.<\/p>\n
