{"id":1316842,"date":"2019-11-20T09:44:16","date_gmt":"2019-11-20T16:44:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.postindependent.com\/?p=991045"},"modified":"2019-11-20T09:44:16","modified_gmt":"2019-11-20T16:44:16","slug":"cpw-uncovers-several-hunting-violations-during-check-station-at-yampa-river-state-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kske\/local-news\/cpw-uncovers-several-hunting-violations-during-check-station-at-yampa-river-state-park\/","title":{"rendered":"CPW uncovers several hunting violations during check-station at Yampa River State Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.postindependent.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/03\/facebook-thumbnail-1200.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>Dozens of CPW officers, park rangers, biologists and technicians from Area 6 (Moffat and Rio Blanco counties) and surrounding areas, as well as and Colorado State Patrol, participated in the day-long operation designed to check hunting tags, proper equipment and harvested animals in the area.<\/p>\n<p>CPW regularly conducts these operations throughout the state each hunting season \u2014 ranging from small-scale to large-scale 24-hour operations on major interstates and highways, according to CPW Northwest Region Public Information Officer Mike Porras.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe goals are to ensure hunters are following regulations, to collect samples for biological research and establish rapport with hunters, including getting first-hand knowledge about how the hunting seasons are progressing,\u201d Porras said via email.<\/p>\n<p>At the day-long Yampa River Check Station, CPW officers compiled the following numbers:<br \/>\u2022&nbsp;204 vehicles checked<br \/>\u2022&nbsp;397 hunters checked<br \/>\u2022&nbsp;110 elk harvested<br \/>\u2022 97 deer harvested<br \/>\u2022 3 ducks harvested<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, officers are following up on a blood DNA test from a truck bed, an unregistered outfitter, license transfers, and 3 waste of meat cases resulting from the check station, according to Porras.<\/p>\n<p>CPW officers and biologists collected approximately 50 tissue samples for specific Game Management Units needed for compiling data.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.postindependent.com\/news\/cpw-uncovers-several-hunting-violations-during-check-station-at-yampa-river-state-park\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">via:: Post Independent<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dozens of CPW officers, park rangers, biologists and technicians from Area 6 (Moffat and Rio Blanco counties) and surrounding areas, as well as and Colorado State Patrol, participated in the day-long operation designed to check hunting tags, proper equipment and harvested animals in the area.
