That\u2019s one of my greatest memories. I was a spokesperson for Pepsi and for Cover Girl, all in the same year. All this was around that whole \u2019Breathe\u2019 thing. It\u2019s one of those decisions that you make: \u2019OK, this train is moving at breakneck speed. Either we stay on it, or we jump off of it.\u2019 And I chose to stay on it. Everything just kind of happened \u2014 the Oscars and everything around that time period.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>OK, how about 10 years ago, in 2010? Consider this: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cmt.com\/artists\/reba-mcentire\">Reba McEntire<\/a> charted a four-week No. 1 single in January 2010 with \u201cConsider Me Gone,\u201d her most successful song ever at country radio.<\/p>\n<div class=\"deferred_content\"> Embedded from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/cw_L8HdoYgo?feature=oembed\">www.youtube.com<\/a>. <noscript class=\"deferred_content\" data-deferred-info=\"{&quot;type&quot;:&quot;iframe&quot;}\"> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/cw_L8HdoYgo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen>\t<\/iframe><\/noscript>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cmt.com\/news\/1618887\/cmt-insider-interview-reba-mcentire-releases-31st-album\/\">Speaking to CMT<\/a> about the album that featured it, <em>Keep on Loving You<\/em>, McEntire said, \u201cI always go into the studio with that same formula: try to find the best songs possible and entertain them the best I can. I mean, that\u2019s the way I\u2019ve always done it, and I probably will always do it that way. Thank God, the songwriters let me have some of their best songs. I love them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On the first country chart of 1990, the top spot went to Highway 101\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ZGlZaCLlzH8\">Who\u2019s Lonely Now<\/a>.\u201d In January 1980, Kenny Rogers dominated with the three-week No. 1 hit, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=mNlswqBZ7u4\">Coward of the County<\/a>.\u201d David Houston ushered in the 1970s with \u201cBaby Baby (I Know You\u2019re a Lady).\u201d <\/p>\n<p>But if you had your radio on in January 1960, you were hearing all about the West Texas town of \u201cEl Paso,\u201d written and recorded by Marty Robbins.
