But the Titans\u2019 Graham Barrett had an answer to send the game into a scoreless 5-minute overtime.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cWe didn\u2019t play well in the second period and took some penalties,\u201d Glenwood coach Tim Cota said in an e-mailed recap of the action.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">With the score 1-1 after a first-period goal from Demon senior Ryan Kotz on a power play and a Crested Butte (7-7-1, 2-6-1) answer from Jack Lambert to open the second, also on a power play, penalty-box time took its toll for Glenwood.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The Demons found themselves down 2-1 going into the third. Strautman tied it back up at 2 apiece 6:43 into the final frame on an assist from senior Dylan Webster.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Lambert would again score for the Titans less than 2 minutes later, and Glenwood\u2019s Sean Mooney found the net at 9:55 to tie it back up (assist Strautman).<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cWe struggled in the second period because our defensive lapses, but made some adjustments in the third period to take control,\u201d Webster said. \u201cCrested Butte\u2019s goalie (Shaughn Rourke) kept it close with some keys saves on us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The coaching staff noted they were proud of the Demons\u2019 third period performance, and how they reacted to the below-average second period.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cWe went on the road knowing 2 points would be tough in the conference, we got one, which was a fight as they challenged us the entire game,\u201d defensive coach Bryan Gonzales said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText Subhead\">BOYS BASKETBALL<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\"><span class=\"STND:STND BodyText Bold\">Coal Ridge 74, Cedaredge 36<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The Coal Ridge High boys jumped out to a 36-17 lead at halftime, and never looked back against the host Cedaredge Bruins Saturday afternoon. The Titans improve to 11-4 on the season and 5-1 in the race for the 3A Western Slope League championship.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText BoldIntro\">Elsewhere: <span class=\"STND:STND BodyText Bold\">Grand Valley defeated Basalt at home, 57-50, to improve to 10-6 and 4-2 in league.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText Subhead\">GIRLS BASKETBALL<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\"><span class=\"STND:STND BodyText Bold\">Cedaredge 68, Coal Ridge 49<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">A tight first half for the Lady Titans on the road at Cedaredge saw the Lady Bruins up 31-28 at the half, before the host team went on a 24-7 run in the third quarter to seal the deal. The Titans drop to 8-7 overall and 3-3 in league play.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\"><span class=\"STND:STND BodyText Bold\">Grand Valley 60, Basalt 27<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The Lady Cardinals dominated the visiting Basalt Longhorns in a league contest that saw the host team up 33-18 at the half before limiting Basalt to just 9 points in the second half for the 60-27 win.
