Matthew Bennett \/ Post Independent<\/strong><br \/><em><\/em><\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p><span>After working as a sport fishing boat captain for the last 15-years, Bobby Ball decided it was time to change course.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI got paid to fish,\u201d Ball said. \u201cIf I can get paid to drink beer I feel like I\u2019m doing pretty good.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>On Super Bowl Sunday, the 37-year-old brewer opened Ball Brewing at 7025 Highway 82 in south Glenwood Springs in the former Habitat for Humanity ReStore location next to Anytime Fitness.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven-days-a-week, Ball Brewing sports a handful of big-screen TVs, \u201cPirates of the Caribbean\u201d pinball, foosball, shuffleboard and other games.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe skee ball machine, actually, if you get 400 points it\u2019ll give you a ticket for a free pint of beer,\u201d Ball said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>A lover of both domestic and craft beers, Ball set out to offer suds with a slightly lower alcohol content without compromising flavor or aroma.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWhat I\u2019m doing is brewing beer that I like and that\u2019s easy to drink,\u201d Ball said. \u201cIt fits the bill with the domestic crowd and the people getting into craft beer.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Currently, Ball Brewing has several beers and hard seltzers on tap.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>From the tropical pale ale Captain Ron to the single-hop IPA Amarillo By Morning, if it\u2019s on Ball Brewing\u2019s beer list, it was brewed in-house.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI want people to be able to have my beer when it\u2019s 90 degrees outside and they\u2019re working or during the wintertime when it\u2019s cold,\u201d Ball said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Ball Brewing does not offer food at the moment, but customers can purchase growlers and six-packs to go.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Additionally, Ball Brewing carries the necessary supplies for those interested in learning how to brew their own beer or wine at home.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThat\u2019s how I started,\u201d Ball said of home brewing. \u201cWe want to promote people learning to do it themselves, also.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>According to Ball, in the near future Ball Brewing will offer classes centered on home brewing a few weekends each month.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>It was also Ball\u2019s hope that his brewery, taproom and homebrew supply store would function less as a \u201ctraditional bar\u201d and more as a social gathering spot for the community at large.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>From of-age college students in need of wi-fi to basketball fans eager for March Madness, whatever the occasion Ball said he had a libation for it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cBeer is art you can drink,\u201d said Ball. \u201cThere\u2019s a beer for every occasion and I feel like there is a beer for every person.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span><a href=\"mailto:mabennett@postindependent.com\">mabennett@postindependent.com<\/a><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.postindependent.com\/news\/art-you-can-drink-ball-brewing-gets-rolling-in-glenwood-springs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">via:: Post Independent<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bobby Ball recently opened Ball Brewing \u2013 a brewery, taproom and home supply store \u2013 in Glenwood Springs.
