A primary takeaway from a new study commissioned by CMT<\/a><\/strong> indicates that men and women are both open to hearing more female artists at country radio, and in addition, listeners simply want to hear great songs regardless of the singer\u2019s gender.<\/p>\n

CMT\u2019s Senior Vice President of Music Strategy Leslie Fram hosted a panel discussion to launch the CMT Equal Play<\/strong><\/a> initiative on Tuesday night in Nashville. Following introductions, researcher Sam Milkman of Coleman Insights debunked the idea that women don\u2019t want to hear women on radio. <\/p>\n

\u201cListeners themselves tell us they don\u2019t have any preference, one way or the other, even though radio is playing a lot more men than women,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
