On Saturday, the county announced that officials have filed a local disaster emergency declaration with the state as a response.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"In a release (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ecemergency.org\/2020\/03\/eagle-county-files-declaration-with.html\" target=\"_blank\">In a release<\/a>, Eagle County Public Health and Environment was quick to point out that the declaration is an administrative tool that can help facilitate access to funding and other resources, and that Eagle County officials felt it was important to file the declaration as soon as possible as some resources are triggered based on the date a declaration is put in place.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEmergency declarations are a typical response to COVID-19 arriving in a community. States, counties and cities across the country are using them to ensure appropriate resources are available for response and recovery,\u201d the release stated.<\/p>\n<p>The declaration will be in effect until March 12, unless extended by an action of the Board of County Commissioners, which could consider extending during the board\u2019s next meeting on March 10.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile there will likely be more cases of COVID-19 in Eagle County, the declaration does not mean we think our community is less safe than anywhere else affected by the virus,\u201d said Kathy Chandler-Henry, chair of the Eagle County Board of Commissioners. \u201cThis is just one more tool to aid in our response.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Those with questions about COVID-19 can call the CO HELP Hotline at 1-877-462-2911, or visit ecemergency.org.<\/p>\n<p>The state of Colorado on Saturday also urged citizens to visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colorado.gov\/pacific\/cdphe\/2019-novel-coronavirus\" rel=\"nofollow\">https:\/\/www.colorado.gov\/pacific\/cdphe\/2019-novel-coronavirus<\/a> for a streamlined source of information.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vaildaily.com\/news\/employing-one-more-tool-to-aid-in-coronavirus-response-eagle-county-files-disaster-emergency-declaration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">via:: Vail Daily<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Friday, a case of COVID-19 was confirmed in Eagle County.
