In addition to haircutting establishments, tattoo parlors, dog groomers, tailors and tanning services \u2014 among others \u2014 are eligible to open.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">After businesses fill out the Garfield County Business Social Distancing Plan, the county will notify them if they meet the requirements.<\/p>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col\" readability=\"6\">\n<div class=\"row gspi-donation gspi-donation-mobile p-0\" readability=\"7\">\n<div class=\"col-xl-4 p-2\">\n<div data-bg=\"url(https:\/\/cdn.postindependent.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2020\/03\/PI-logo-white.png)\" class=\"p-0 mt-2 mb-2 h-75 text-center rocket-lazyload\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.postindependent.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2020\/03\/PI-logo-white.png\" class=\"logo m-0 p-0 invisible\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><h3 class=\"d-inline mr-3\">Support Local Journalism<\/h3>\n<p><button class=\"btn d-inline\" type=\"button\" onclick=\"handleDonationButtonClickMidArticle()\">Donate<\/button><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">For some, there is excitement about returning to something closer to normal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cI\u2019m so excited to go back to work. I miss the customers a lot,\u201d said Fran Hurt, a longtime stylist at Hair Depot on Railroad in Rifle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Things will, of course, be different.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cEveryone has to wear a mask,\u201d said Summer Scrivens, owner of Good Old Days Barbershop in Carbondale.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cWe are wearing masks, and we are requiring clients to wear masks,\u201d said Cathy Stillman, owner of Creekside Hair &amp; Day Spa in New Castle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cArtists will have cloth masks and will be gloved up,\u201d said Rhonda Hunter, owner of Inkology tattoo parlor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Scrivens is a one-woman show, so with the one-customer-per-stylist rule, she\u2019ll be limited to one customer in the shop.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cBefore there were four or five customers in the shop at the same time,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Creekside has five stations, so if each stylist has a customer that will max out the requirement of no more than 10 people per establishment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cWe used to go back and forth, with one customer under the dryer and one at the station, but we can\u2019t do that now,\u201d said Stillman.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">They can\u2019t wait inside, either, or line up.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cEverybody has to wait outside. We\u2019ll have the door locked, and when we\u2019re ready we\u2019ll go outside and bring them in,\u201d Stillman said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">While cleanliness is already a common practice in salons and tattoo parlors, the current rules require complete sterilization between clients.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cI\u2019m going to take every precaution I can, though we\u2019re already a clean industry,\u201d said Cassandra Collins, owner of Floyds of Mayberry Barbershop in Glenwood.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cI\u2019ll clean the environment like we do between clients anyway, suit up with new gloves and sterilize the whole station,\u201d said Scrivens.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cWe\u2019ll clean chairs and everything between clients using MadaCide, which even kills hepatitis,\u201d Hunter said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Clients will be expected to wash their hands before entering the business at a station provided by the business near the front door.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Bonedale Tattoo\u2019s website says, \u201cAll clients are required to wear masks and sanitize or wash their hands upon entry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The state requires that all financial transaction equipment be sanitized after each use and contactless payment options be provided whenever possible.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">At Creekside, \u201cEverybody pays at each individual station, so each stylist has a credit card machine,\u201d Stillman said. This eliminates the risk of contacting a different person to pay, she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The state requires that employees and customers seeking or receiving high-contact services be checked for symptoms. Bonedale Tattoo\u2019s website says, \u201cBody temp will be taken upon entry.\u201d Hunter also will be taking clients\u2019 temperature.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Hunter is going beyond the requirements with physical separation beyond the now-familiar six feet of distance. \u201cWe\u2019ll have a 4-1\/2-foot glass wall between clients,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Cutting, coloring and body inking will be allowed, but not all esthetician services will be.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cWe won\u2019t be able to do facials; it\u2019s a little bit too close for comfort,\u201d Stillman said. State requirements limit businesses to services that can be done without a customer removing their mask.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">As specific as the requirements are, there will likely be a need for adjustments.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cIt\u2019s going to be a good run the first week figuring out the system and getting the rhythm right. It\u2019s going to take a few days to fine tune,\u201d Hurt said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cThere\u2019ll be some grey area that we didn\u2019t see until we\u2019re living it,\u201d Stillman said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">But the bottom line is to open businesses while minimizing chances of infection.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cI really believe that we need to take [COVID-19] seriously.
