Springs is interested in building a wind turbine assembly factory in Silt.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur board would help him with anything he needs to get that up and running,\u201d Silt town administrator Jeff Layman said.<\/p>\n<p>He said he has connected Conarro with Realtors, pointed out that Silt is an opportunity zone \u2014 which can offer tax advantages to investors \u2014 and played up access to the on to the railroad that has a great spur that would work with shipping materials in and product out,\u201d Layman said.<\/p>\n<p>Layman said he has also suggested properties that might meet the factory\u2019s needs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSilt gave us four sites to choose to choose from,\u201d Conarro said.<\/p>\n<p>At this point Conarro is interested in a parcel of land between the Holiday Inn and the Bureau of Land Management office south of Interstate 70.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s far from a done deal, though.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re probably still a year out before we consider breaking ground,\u201d Conarro said.<\/p>\n<p>There is still work to be done making sure the turbines are ready for production.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u201cWe\u2019re building a wind tunnel to test the turbines,\u201d Conarro said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn September we\u2019ll have data back on the equipment. \u2026 At that point we\u2019ll be closer to going into production.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe priority is getting the equipment where it needs to be to sell product in volume,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Conarro said the turbine parts would be built in Colorado Springs, then assembled in Silt.<\/p>\n<p>But first Conarro will need to assemble some backers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve got to get some serious capital involved,\u201d Conarro admitted.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime Conarro has plenty to keep himself busy.<\/p>\n<div class=\"p402_hide\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\">\n<div class=\"caption-container\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" He\u2019s a mad scientist, he\u2019s down in that basement coming up with all kinds of cool stuff,\u201d said Mike Lowe, executive director of Coventure in Carbondale. Lowe is working with Conarro on getting grants.<\/p>\n<p>Anew Energy is working on several other energy-saving projects: vertical farming, gravity batteries, energy-independent buildings, a lightpole (with turbine atop) for charging cars and even a top-secret contract.<\/p>\n<p>And while Conarro has big ideas, his turbine is quite small. It\u2019s nothing like the behemoths seen on hillsides across the world. It\u2019s a game-changer if this product gets to market,\u201d Lowe said.<\/p>\n<p>Conarro takes seriously Gov.
