{"id":573745,"date":"2015-04-08T18:32:36","date_gmt":"2015-04-09T00:32:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kske\/?p=573745"},"modified":"2015-04-08T18:54:28","modified_gmt":"2015-04-09T00:54:28","slug":"shane-mcanally-brandy-clark-say-theyre-lucky-to-be-good-friends","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kske\/articles\/shane-mcanally-brandy-clark-say-theyre-lucky-to-be-good-friends\/","title":{"rendered":"Shane McAnally, Brandy Clark Say They\u2019re \u2018Lucky\u2019 to Be Good Friends"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"tsm-clipoard-container\">\n<div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"4ruRQ5M3IXU\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Kacey Musgraves, Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally backstage at CMAs\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4ruRQ5M3IXU?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/theboot.com\/tags\/shane-mcanally\/\">Shane McAnally<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/theboot.com\/tags\/brandy-clark\/\">Brandy Clark<\/a> and Josh Osborne performed together during Nashville\u2019s annual <a href=\"http:\/\/theboot.com\/tin-pan-south-2015\/\">Tin Pan South<\/a>\u00a0festival in late March,\u00a0in a songwriters\u2019 round that McAnally jokingly dubbed <a href=\"http:\/\/theboot.com\/gay-country-artists\/\">\u201cTwo Gays and a Guy.\u201d<\/a>\u00a0But while the three writers threw playful jabs at each other throughout most of the evening, they also made it clear that their friendship is certainly no laughing matter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was talking about <a href=\"http:\/\/theboot.com\/kacey-musgraves-biscuits\/\">\u201cBiscuits\u201d<\/a> today,\u201d McAnally said during the event, referring to <a href=\"http:\/\/theboot.com\/tags\/kacey-musgraves\/\">Kacey Musgraves<\/a>\u2018 new single, which was written by Musgraves, McAnally and Clark. \u201cI was talking about Josh and talking about Luke [Laird] and talking about Brandy and Kacey and so many people we get to work with. We\u2019re blessed that we get to sit up here and that we have hits and all of that, of course. But the fact that these are people that I would want in my family, and that this is what we get to do every day, we\u2019re very lucky.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As Clark explained, the feeling is mutual.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJosh and I were at the same publishing company. And at that point, there wasn\u2019t anything going on for any of us. But getting to know this group of people really, really was the turning point for me,\u201d she recalled. \u201cI\u00a0admire all of their talent so much that I thought, \u2018If they think I\u2019m good, then I\u2019m going to keep doing this.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think we all feel that way all the time. It\u2019s not a put-on up here. Everybody up here really is friends,\u201d she added. \u201cI would tell all [songwriters] to find your group of misfit toys. That\u2019s sort of what we all were when we met each other.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McAnally, who is responsible for many of the biggest hits of the last few years, including <a href=\"http:\/\/theboot.com\/tags\/sam-hunt\/\">Sam Hunt<\/a>\u2018s \u201cLeave the Night On,\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/theboot.com\/tags\/kenny-chesney\/\">Kenny Chesney<\/a>\u2018s \u201cAmerican Kids\u201d and <a href=\"http:\/\/theboot.com\/tags\/lady-antebellum\/\">Lady Antebellum<\/a>\u2018s \u201cFreestyle,\u201d among others, said that he remains in awe of the talent he gets to collaborate with every day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI cannot believe we get to do this,\u201d he acknowledged. \u201cI can\u2019t believe this is my job, and I know they feel the same. The truth is, I take a lot of credit, but these are the best.
