Country fans will soon hear Steven Tyler with a twang \u2014 or something to that effect. His new solo single, the first off of his upcoming country album, is coming on May 13.<\/p>\n

Tyler will premiere the single, \u201cLove Is Your Name,\u201d on the season finale of American Idol<\/em>\u00a0\u2013 a move that\u2019s\u00a0serendipitous of his\u00a0last solo single, \u201c(It) Feels So Good,\u201d which also debuted on the show.
\nPrior to his announcement, Tyler\u00a0teased\u00a0on Twitter \u201cBIG NEWS COMIN TONIGHT\u201d and shared\u00a0a photo of himself, Scott Borchetta and the top five\u00a0Idol<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>finalists. Tyler himself is a former\u00a0Idol\u00a0<\/em>judge.<\/p>\n

After rumors began swirling about Tyler\u2019s country project, the Aerosmith frontman confirmed the news during a surprise appearance at the Grand Ole Opry at the end of March and officially announced that he had signed with Big Machine Label Group\u2019s Dot Records in early April.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was an immediate connection with Scott and Big Machine, and Nashville seems like the perfect segue for a solo project \u2026 and Dot Records is the right fit,\u201d Tyler says. \u201cMy earliest influences put me somewhere between the Everly Brothers and the Carter Family, and this project is all about me paying homage to my country roots.\u201d<\/p>\n

While a title, release date and track listing have not yet been announced, it\u2019s clear that Tyler\u2019s new record will be unique.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything he sings is going to sound a little like Aerosmith, because he\u2019s the voice. But he\u2019s been talking about how he wants some of it to be organic,\u201d songwriter Cary Barlowe, with whom Tyler has been writing, explains. \u201cIt\u2019s obviously not going to be traditional country- or old-school country-sounding, but he does want mandolin and a banjo in there, to change it up.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tyler\u2019s attraction to country music has been apparent since 2006, when he collaborated with\u00a0Keith Anderson\u00a0on \u201cThree Chord Country and American Rock & Roll.\u201d He also has worked with artists like Keith Urban, Jana Kramer, Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood for various recordings and performances.<\/p>\n
