Have you ever seen a person tearing through the snow from a rope attached to a horse and rider? They say that Skijoring began as a demonstration sport in the 1928 Winter Olympics and now some folks practice dog skijoring or motorized skijoring but in Minturn, CO this weekend it\u2019s time for the real deal, equestrian skijoring (and<\/em> barstool racing)!<\/p>\n

In their own words, Rocky Mountain Extreme Skijoring takes the athleticism of ski racing and combines it with the \u201cmystique and raw beauty of the Colorado cowboy lifestyle\u201d! Get ready to see the fast and furious from skis, hooves, and snow!<\/p>\n

In RMX Skijoring the horse accelerates from 0 to 40 in about three strides while the skier holds on to a 30-foot hemp rope as their horse and rider tow them over a snow covered course complete with 6-8 foot jumps and more!<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t miss this weekend as the Town of Minturn, in partnership with Vail Brewing Company<\/a>, Sage Outdoor Adventures<\/a>, and Skijor International <\/a>host 3 days full of crazy fun parties and spectator sports from Barstool Racing to Rocky Mountain Extreme Skijoring!<\/p>\n
