Lil Wayne<\/a> unleashed a potent rendition of his Carter V<\/em><\/a> cut \u201cDon\u2019t Cry\u201d on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert<\/a><\/em> Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The performance found Wayne tearing through the track\u2019s brutally honest bars about life, death, success and failure: \u201cIt was dark, now the sun back\/ Hit me hard, but I punched back\/ The wheels fell off, I rode the hubcap\/ Is it suicide or it\u2019s do or die?\/ It\u2019s newer days and it\u2019s bluer skies.\u201d After each torrential verse, Wayne unleashed the song\u2019s howling chorus, belting, \u201cDon\u2019t cry\u201d alongside a recording of accused domestic abuser<\/a> and late rapper<\/a> XXXTentacion.<\/p>\n

Lil Wayne released Tha Carter V<\/em> in September after numerous delays. While the record technically follows Weezy\u2019s 2011 effort, Tha Carter IV<\/em><\/a>, the characteristically prolific rapper filled the interim years with a slew of<\/a> mixtapes<\/a> and other releases<\/a><\/p>\n

Lil Wayne will play<\/a> a handful of shows this month on his TIDAL-backed \u201cI Ain\u2019t Shit Without You\u201d tour. The trek kicks off December 17th in Houston, Texas and includes stops in Atlanta, Georgia, Washington, D.C. and Chicago, Illinois.<\/p>\n
