Miley Cyrus<\/a> has teamed with Mark Ronson<\/a> and Sean Ono Lennon<\/a> for a new version of John Lennon<\/a> and Yoko Ono<\/a>\u2019s classic holiday staple \u201cHappy Xmas (War is Over).\u201d The original song was released in 1971.<\/p>\n

In the new rendition, Cyrus passionately sings the lyrics over a subtle backbeat as Lennon adds buoyant harmonies of \u201cWar is over\/ If you want it\u201d into the mix, before their singing intertwines at the chorus.<\/p>\n

Cyrus, who has been collaborating with Ronson (they recently debuted the \u201cNothing Breaks Like a Heart<\/a>\u201d video for their song that will appear on Ronson\u2019s forthcoming LP), told Jimmy Fallon<\/a> during The Tonight Show<\/em> on Thursday that the cover came together while at New York\u2019s famed Electric Lady Studios, where she and Ronson had been working.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, we went to Electric Lady with Sean Ono Lennon and we got to cut \u2018War is Over,’\u201d Cyrus said. \u201cAnd so we\u2019re also doing it on SNL<\/em> \u2013 we want to do a Christmas song, and I don\u2019t think anything could speak louder than what\u2019s going on right now than about \u2018War is Over.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Fallon also asked Cyrus if Lennon sounded like his father during their recording. \u201cI mean, he\u2019s just such an incredible being to be in the room with because that magic just radiates and I have always loved John and Yoko, I\u2019m such a big Yoko fan, and so it\u2019s just been amazing to work with him and his voice is just so special,\u201d she explained. \u201cAnd I think more than just inheriting the voice, or you know the way he looks or whatever, that is it\u2019s about the magic that you know he has and I think that\u2019s what he\u2019s really inherited more than anything, it\u2019s just this radiant magic.\u201d<\/p>\n
