Bebe Rexha delivered a stripped-down, strings-only rendition of her hit \u201cKnees\u201d on The Tonight Show<\/a><\/em> Friday. The rendition marked the late-night television debut of the single. The glamorous performance \u2013 Rexha\u2019s second Tonight Show<\/em> appearance in the latter half of 2018<\/a> \u2013 wrapped up a breakout year for Rexha, who released her debut album Expectations<\/a><\/em> in July.<\/p>\n

The LP followed the Staten Island singer\u2019s smash single \u201cMeant to Be,\u201d a country-pop crossover that she recorded with Florida Georgia Line. That single appeared on Rexha\u2019s 2017 EP All You Fault: Pt. 2 and became the record holder for longest Hot Country Songs chart Number One with a female lead<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had been thinking of the title\u00a0Expectations<\/em>\u00a0for years now because nothing ever goes as expected,\u201d Rexha told Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a>. \u201cAfter I put out All Your Fault: Pt. 2, I was like, \u2018OK, this is crazy that I have a pop-country hit out. It\u2019s kind of weird and cool and amazing.\u2019 That [country] world inspired me to write songs that I love, so the project started coming together.\u201d<\/p>\n

Uploaded in July, the \u201cKnees\u201d lyric video has accumulated over 38 million views on YouTube.<\/p>\n
