Nine Inch Nails<\/a>\u2019 Trent Reznor<\/a> and Atticus Ross released a new 13-minute track, \u201cOutside,\u201d which appears on the soundtrack to the Netflix horror-drama Bird Box<\/em><\/a>, starring Sandra Bullock. An eerie piano theme runs throughout the ambient piece, laying a foundation for moaning brass, ambient synth whooshes and distorted noise.<\/p>\n

Reznor tweeted links to the song and full soundtrack, along with a note thanking fans for their support in 2018. \u201cBetween the [Nine Inch Nails] record and tour it felt pretty great from my perspective,\u201d he wrote<\/a>. \u201cNothing is taken for granted and I appreciate you coming along for the ride.\u201d The band issued their ninth LP, Bad Witch<\/em><\/a>, in June, and promoted the 30-minute set with their \u201cCold and Black and Infinite\u201d North American tour<\/a> featuring the Jesus and Mary Chain.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The full score is available to purchase now and will appear on streaming services on January 25th. The lengthy \u201cOutside\u201d is labeled the \u201cAbridged\u201d version, and Reznor wrote on the Nine Inch Nails site<\/a> that a \u201cmore expansive (read: more self-indulgent) physical-only offering\u201d featuring an additional hour of music will arrive this spring. \u201cEnter at your own risk,\u201d he warned. He also noted that \u201clots\u201d will be \u201ccoming in 2019.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Bird Box<\/em>, which reportedly broke a Netflix streaming record<\/a>, follows several film scoring collaborations for Reznor and Ross, including 2010\u2019s The Social Network<\/em>, 2011\u2019s The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo<\/em>, 2014\u2019s Gone Girl<\/em> and 2018\u2019s Mid90s<\/em>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
