{"id":791838,"date":"2019-01-08T10:57:33","date_gmt":"2019-01-08T17:57:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.summitdaily.com\/?p=355243"},"modified":"2019-01-08T10:57:33","modified_gmt":"2019-01-08T17:57:33","slug":"sheriffs-office-seeks-public-help-in-identifying-skiers-in-collision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/ksmt\/local-news\/sheriffs-office-seeks-public-help-in-identifying-skiers-in-collision\/","title":{"rendered":"Sheriff\u2019s office seeks public help in identifying skiers in collision"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Summit County Sheriff&#8217;s Office is seeking the public&#8217;s assistance in identifying a pair of skiers who reportedly collided with another skier at Breckenridge Ski Resort on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>On Jan. 5 at about 7:15 p.m. the sheriff&#8217;s office responded to a report from a victim of a skier collision that took place earlier that day at around 12:30 p.m. An unidentified juvenile male skier on the mountain with his father reportedly collided with the victim while skiing on the Reverie Ski Run on Peak 6, sending the victim into a tree. The young skier and his father left the scene without providing any names or contact information, according to the sheriff&#8217;s office.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the report, the sheriff&#8217;s office believes this is a violation of the Skier Safety Act law, which requires all skiers or snowboarders involved in a collision to stop, exchange information and summon aid.<\/p>\n<p>The case is currently under investigation, and the sheriff&#8217;s office is asking anyone with information about the collision to contact detective sergeant Robert Pearce at 970-423-8925.<\/p>\n<p>Violations of the Ski Safety Act can be serious offenses. According to the Fifth Judicial District Attorney&#8217;s Office, hit and runs while skiing are class 2 petty offenses punishable by a fine of up to $1,000.
