After weeks of speculation<\/a> about whether Radiohead<\/a> will show up for their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction<\/a>, Thom Yorke<\/a> has confirmed that he won\u2019t be attendance for the March ceremony at Brooklyn\u2019s Barclays Center.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Variety<\/em><\/a> about the Rock Hall nod, Yorke admitted that the concept of the institution is foreign to the band, and while he is honored by the induction, he can\u2019t partake in the ceremony due to a scheduling conflict.<\/p>\n

When asked if he\u2019d attend the induction ceremony, Yorke said, \u201cI know I can\u2019t, because of these piano pieces that I\u2019ve written\u201d; the singer crafted piano works for Katia and Marielle Lab\u00e8que that will premiere at Philharmonie de Paris on April 7th, days after the Rock Hall induction.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Rock and Roll Hall of Fame<\/a>\u2026 we\u2019ve always been very blas\u00e9 about that stuff. So we don\u2019t want to offend anyone. We just think that we just don\u2019t quite understand it,\u201d Yorke added.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve had it explained to us, so it\u2019s cool. But we don\u2019t really understand it as English people. I think our problem is essentially that every awards ceremony in the UK stinks. We grew up with the Brits, which is like this sort of drunken car crash that you don\u2019t want to get involved with. So, yeah, we don\u2019t really know what to make of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although Yorke can\u2019t attend the Rock Hall induction, he\u2019s keeping his calendar clear for the Oscars on February 24th; his Suspiria<\/em><\/a> song \u201cSuspirium\u201d was shortlisted in the Academy Awards\u2019 Best Original Song category<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, I hope it gets nominated,\u201d Yorke said. \u201cThat would be great, because it was a year and a half in my life, and I worked bloody hard on it. So, you know, sometimes it\u2019s nice to be recognized. Sometimes, if you understand what it means.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite recently releasing his two-LP Suspiria<\/em> score, Yorke still plans on releasing a solo album in 2019<\/a>. When asked whether the still-unreleased songs that Yorke performed during his recent Tomorrow\u2019s Modern Boxes tour will appear on his next album, he said, \u201d Yeah, they fucking well should. They really, really better be. Really soon. I\u2019m desperate now\u2026 I expected to have done it all (in the fall), and it just didn\u2019t happen like that. I\u2019m going to stop beating myself up about it. It will happen.\u201d<\/p>\n
