Big Boi<\/a> will perform as part of the Super Bowl<\/a> LIII halftime show as the NFL confirmed<\/a> Sunday that the Outkast<\/a> rapper, along with the previously revealed Maroon 5<\/a> and Travis Scott<\/a>, will take the stage at Atlanta\u2019s Mercedes-Benz Stadium on February 3rd.<\/p>\n

The addition of Big Boi guarantees that Atlanta\u2019s rich hip-hop legacy will be represented in some capacity when the Super Bowl invades the Georgia capital. The rapper previously recruited Maroon 5\u2019s Adam Levine for the Boomiverse<\/em> single \u201cMic Jack<\/a>\u201d in 2017.<\/p>\n

Despite the high-profile nature of the gig, the guest spots for the Maroon 5-led Pepsi Halftime Show have reportedly been difficult to fill as artists like Rihanna and Cardi B<\/a> have turned down a halftime appearance in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick.<\/p>\n

Billboard<\/em> reported<\/a> Sunday that Scott only agreed to perform at the Super Bowl \u2013 despite the backlash \u2013 after the NFL agreed to make a joint $500,000 charitable contribution to Van Jones\u2019 Dream Corps organization, a \u201csocial justice accelerator.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI back anyone who takes a stand for what they believe in,\u201d Scott said in a statement to Billboard<\/em>.\u00a0\u201cI know being an artist that it\u2019s in my power to inspire. So before confirming the Super Bowl Halftime performance, I made sure to partner with the NFL on this important donation.\u00a0I am proud to support Dream Corps and the work they do that will hopefully inspire and promote change.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prior to the Super Bowl, on Saturday, February 2nd,\u00a0Rolling Stone\u00a0will take over the Goat Farm Arts Center for\u00a0Rolling Stone Live: Atlanta<\/a>, featuring special performances from\u00a0Ludacris\u00a0and Young Thug, as well as performances by Gunna and Lil Keed. The event will also showcase DJ sets from the Roots\u2019 Questlove. Aerosmith, Bruno Mars and Cardi B will also perform during the three-day Super Bowl Music Fest<\/a> prior to the Big Game.<\/p>\n
