The Cranberries\u2019 lead singer Dolores O\u2019Riordan<\/a> died one year ago this week. In memory of their departed band member, The Cranberries\u2019 announced a new album<\/a>, which will be their final release as a band, along with a new single called \u201cAll Over Now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Late on Tuesday afternoon, Vic Mensa<\/a> also took the opportunity to pay homage to O\u2019Riordan. Alongside a new band called 93PUNX, a group designed to provide a backdrop to Mensa\u2019s output that falls outside of hip-hop, Mensa fronts a cover of The Cranberries\u2019 \u201cZombie.\u201d<\/p>\n

The band\u2019s 1994 protest song \u2014 it references a 1993 IRA bombing \u2014 is repurposed by Mensa and co. to be a slightly more drone-y take on the classic. It\u2019s slowed down, and Mensa\u2019s baritone provides a completely different take on O\u2019Riordan\u2019s original. \u201cWe connected to zombie because we were born from violence,\u201d Mensa \u2014 who has spent the last few years as a gun reform advocate<\/a> \u2014 wrote in a statement. \u201cRIP Dolores.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
