Days after Netflix and Hulu dropped dueling schadenfreude-filled documentary films on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/movies\/movie-features\/fyre-festival-netflix-documentary-chris-smith-interview-778479\/\">meltdown of\u00a0Fyre Festival<\/a>, an unofficial movie on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/drake\/\" id=\"auto-tag_drake\" data-tag=\"drake\">Drake<\/a>\u2019s life and legacy is now making the rounds on streaming services.<\/p>\n<p><em>Drake: Rewriting the Rules<\/em>, which was first released on Vimeo last November, is now available to stream on Netflix and Amazon. The film, directed by Ray Louis, doesn\u2019t feature interviews with Drake or any members of his team, but chronicles Aubrey Drake Graham\u2019s origins as a child star on Canadian cult TV series\u00a0<em>Degrassi\u00a0<\/em>and his rise to fame in hip-hop through archival footage and a series of interviews with music writers.<\/p>\n<p>For those experiencing a tiny bout of d\u00e9j\u00e0 vu: Yes, this is actually the second unofficial documentary detailing Drake\u2019s life, coming after January 2018\u2019s\u00a0<em>Toronto to Houston<\/em>, which was directed by Marquis Trill.<\/p>\n<p>Neither Drake\u2019s team nor Netflix have commented on the rapper\u2019s relationship to\u00a0<em>Rewriting the Rules<\/em>, but <em>Pitchfork<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/news\/unauthorized-drake-documentary-released-on-netflix-amazon-itunes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">notes<\/a>\u00a0that an early mixtape cut of the track \u201cThrill Is Gone\u201d appears in the film at the 16:30 mark accompanied by the text \u201ccourtesy of OVO Sound\/Reservoir Media Management,\u201d which would suggest some form of approval of use from OVO, Drake\u2019s record label.
