{"id":792338,"date":"2019-01-24T10:43:07","date_gmt":"2019-01-24T17:43:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=783987"},"modified":"2019-01-24T10:43:07","modified_gmt":"2019-01-24T17:43:07","slug":"florence-and-the-machine-drops-two-brazen-new-songs-moderation-haunted-house","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/ksmt\/music-news\/florence-and-the-machine-drops-two-brazen-new-songs-moderation-haunted-house\/","title":{"rendered":"Florence and the Machine Drops Two Brazen New Songs: \u2018Moderation,\u2019 \u2018Haunted House\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/florence-and-the-machine-new-songs.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"\/><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/florence-and-the-machine\/\" id=\"auto-tag_florence-and-the-machine\" data-tag=\"florence-and-the-machine\">Florence and the Machine<\/a> unveiled two new songs, \u201cModeration\u201d and \u201cHaunted House,\u201d marking their first new music since the release of their 2018 album, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-album-reviews\/review-florence-and-the-machines-powerfully-intimate-high-as-hope-666989\/\"><em>High as Hope<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cModeration\u201d \u2013 which Florence and the Machine recently began performing live \u2013 is a rumbling piano-driven tune that finds frontwoman Florence Welch confronting a tepid lover with her unmistakable powerhouse vocals. \u201cYou got me looking for validation,\u201d Welch sings, \u201cThat\u2019s just me and you\/Want me to love you in moderation\/Well, who do you think you\u2019re talking to?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cHaunted House,\u201d meanwhile, finds Welch tackling the voices that keep her up late at night over a sparse arrangement that swells into a jittery blend of piano, drums and backing vocals. \u201cMy heart is like a haunted house,\u201d Welch sings, \u201cThere\u2019s things in there that scratch about\/They make their music in the night\/And in the day they give me such a fright.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Florence and the Machine collaborated on \u201cModeration\u201d and \u201cHaunted House\u201d with producers James Ford and Matthew Daniel Siskin, respectively.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Florence and the Machine are in the middle of an Australian tour, and they\u2019re scheduled to trek around Europe this spring.
