The new six-song collection marks Michaels\u2019 first release since her 2017 EP, <em>Nervous System,<\/em> and boasts collaborations with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/selena-gomez\/\" id=\"auto-tag_selena-gomez\" data-tag=\"selena-gomez\">Selena Gomez<\/a> and Niall Horan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Michaels debuted her collaboration with Gomez, \u201cAnxiety,\u201d on Zane Lowe\u2019s Beats 1 radio show. The track is centered around a plucky acoustic guitar part that settles into a slick pop groove. Both Michaels and Gomez offer endearingly frank verses about grappling with depression and social anxiety, though their lyrics are also tinged with a bit of self-deprecating humor: \u201cFeel like I\u2019m always apologizing for feeling,\u201d they sing, \u201cLike I\u2019m out of my mind when I\u2019m doing just fine\/And my exes all say that I\u2019m hard to deal with\/And I admit it, yeah.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Michaels\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/post\/sa.cbfd1670-2004-11e9-8339-fe7bc729e79f\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">discussed the song<\/a> with Lowe as well, and explained why she wanted Gomez to join her on it. \u201cI was like, \u2018I think it\u2019d be really awesome to have a song with two women on it that struggle with the same thing, that are talking about something other than two women fighting for a guy\u2019s attention,&#8217;\u201d Michaels said. \u201cOr something like that. It\u2019s almost like a female empowerment song without it being a female empowerment song.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Michaels is set to embark on a North American tour this spring that will include a mix of solo headlining dates and shows supporting Pink.
