Michael Jackson<\/a>\u2019s family released a statement Monday condemning the documentary Leaving Neverland<\/em> that alleges the singer molested and raped underage boys. The two-part, HBO-bound film<\/a> premiered Friday at the Sundance Film Festival and left the audience shell-shocked<\/a> with its accusations against Jackson.<\/p>\n

\u201cMichael always turned the other cheek, and we have always turned the other cheek when people have gone after members of our family \u2014 that is the Jackson way,\u201d the Jackson family statement said (via the Associated Press<\/em><\/a>).<\/p>\n

\u201cBut we can\u2019t just stand by while this public lynching goes on\u2026 Michael is not here to defend himself, otherwise these allegations would not have been made.\u201d<\/p>\n

Like the statement released by the Jackson estate \u2013 which labeled Leaving Neverland<\/em> as \u201ctabloid character assassination\u201d<\/a> \u2013 the family noted that the two accusers featured in the documentary, Wade Robson and James Safechuck, both told investigators that Jackson hadn\u2019t molested them at Jackson\u2019s 2005 molestation trial. Their own accusations against Jackson didn\u2019t come to light until both men filed a lawsuit against the Jackson estate in 2013. Those lawsuits were dismissed.<\/p>\n

The Jackson family was also \u201cfurious\u201d with unnamed media outlets because they \u201cbelieve the word of two admitted liars over the word of hundreds of families and friends around the world who spent time with Michael,\u201d adding that Safechuck and Robson are \u201cperjurers.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Jackson family statement concluded, \u201cWe are proud of what Michael Jackson stands for.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jackson\u2019s nephew Taj Jackson also slammed Leaving Neverland<\/em> and Robson in a tweet Sunday, \u201cMy family and I have known Wade and his family since he came to America. Don\u2019t tell me a 4-hour one-sided hit job that you watched is more reputable than people who actually knew him and saw his interactions. This is all about money and the desperate need to be relevant again.\u201d<\/p>\n
