Silverthorne will be awarding nearly $100,000 in cash and in-kind services to local nonprofit organizations this year through its annual grant process.<\/p>\n
According to the town, elected officials have selected 44 nonprofits that will receive $39,000 in cash awards and $40,000 in in-kind use of town facilities. The in-kind donations include use of the Silverthorne Pavilion, Recreation Center and town parks, and town leaders are more than happy to do it.<\/p>\n
“We are all really fortunate to live in a community that gives so much to its residents,” said Mayor Ann-Marie Sandquist. “It’s a great feeling for Silverthorne to be able to help these amazing nonprofit organizations carry on the important work that they do for all of us every day.”<\/p>\n
The town participates in a collaborative grant process with other local governments within the county every year to create a more streamlined process for nonprofits. Amounts are determined by town council based on the potential benefits to Silverthorne residents and the nonprofits’ past performances.<\/p>\n
Silverthorne also awards approximately $15,000 annually in college scholarships for high school seniors.<\/p>\n
