Whether or not Ariana Grande<\/a> wins any Grammy Awards<\/a> this weekend, she won\u2019t be there to personally collect them. Grande said that she\u2019s skipping the event because she felt \u201ccreatively stifled\u201d by the award show\u2019s producer, Ken Ehrlich. She names him directly in a thread of tweets<\/a>\u00a0that stem from an article in which Ehrlich blames Grande\u2019s Grammy absence on timing (that she \u201cfelt it was too late for her to pull something together.\u201d)<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve kept my mouth shut but now you\u2019re lying about me,\u201d Grande\u00a0wrote in response<\/a>. \u201cI can pull together a performance over night and you know that, Ken. It was when my creativity & self expression was stifled by you, that I decided not to attend. I hope the show is exactly what you want it to be and more.\u201d The singer went on that she\u2019d offered to perform three different songs, but none were accepted. \u201cIt\u2019s just a game y\u2019all.. and I\u2019m sorry but that\u2019s not what music is to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Grande ended by acknowledging how \u201cgrateful\u201d she still is for her two nominations, but not before noting that she \u201cpassed a Grammys bus with [her] face on it typing those.\u201d Though she is not up for any of the Big Four categories \u2013 she is instead a top contender for Best Pop Solo Performance (\u201cGod Is a Woman\u201d) and Best Pop Vocal Album (Sweetener<\/em>) \u2014 her face has been heavily used in the show\u2019s marketing.<\/p>\n

Variety<\/em>\u00a0previously reported on the dispute<\/a>, noting that Grande had wanted to perform her current Number One single \u201c7 Rings,\u201d while the producers insisted that she do perform that song as a medley with a song of their choosing. According to Variety<\/em>, Grande was \u201cinsulted\u201d by the request and will no longer attend the event.<\/p>\n

Grande, who will release the album Thank U, Next<\/em> tomorrow, is not the only famous, nominated face to reportedly not attend this year\u2019s ceremony. Taylor Swift will be skipping the event while Drake and Kendrick Lamar are also rumored to be no-shows<\/a>.<\/p>\n
