Other top finishers in the recreation division included Ben Ceorwin (2:16), Parker Malheke (2:39.5) and Charley Walkowiak (2:59).<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">In the professional division, Matt Janzen took the title with a time of 2:58, followed by Dominic Vellone (3:14) and Ryan Zarter (3:27).<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">There were 49 total registrants who took part in the event, including 17 in the recreational division, 31 industry professionals, including many ski patrollers, and one participant in the junior division.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The annual event is a fundraiser for the Friends of the Colorado Avalanche Information Center and includes the beacon search competition, a beacon practice area, avalanche dog demonstrations, live and silent auctions, ski and snowboard demos, and an apres party with pizza and beer specials.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The event was conceived 17 years ago by A-Basin\u2019s ski patrol and is one of four fundraising events hosted by A-Basin each year. Participants include ski patrollers from across the state plus backcountry skiers wanting to hone their rescue skills.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC) is a program within the Colorado Department of Natural Resources.
