Camila<\/span> Cabello opened the Grammy Awards from the inside of a brownstone reimagined as a colorful dollhouse. She shifted through the rooms before taking to the \u201cstreet,\u201d where she ran into J Balvin<\/a> reading a paper with the headline \u201cBuild Bridges Not Walls.\u201d<\/p>\n

Young Thug<\/a> joined to perform a verse as Cabello nimbly danced throughout the street. Soon, the opening act turned into a medley of Latin pop superstars: Ricky Martin<\/a> joined to belt alongside Cabello as Arturo Sandoval played on his trumpet before J Balvin did a bit of his smash hit \u201cMi Gente.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cabello is up for two awards: Best Pop Solo Performance (her live version of \u201cHavana\u201d) and Best Pop Vocal Album (her debut 2018 LP, Camila<\/em>). The former Fifth Harmony singer released \u201cHavana,\u201d a single off her\u00a0Camila\u00a0<\/em>album, in 2017, and it quickly became a Number One hit on the\u00a0Billboard\u00a0<\/em>Hot 100. In a\u00a0Rolling Stone\u00a0<\/em>interview from last year, she called the track \u201can ode to my heritage, my culture.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Balvin is nominated for Record of the Year for \u201cI Like It,\u201d his collaborative single with Cardi B and Bad Bunny.\u00a0<\/span>While he only received one nod at the 2019 Grammys, he recently earned eight nominations at the 2018 Latin Grammy Awards<\/a> \u2014 including Record of the Year (\u201cMi Gente\u201d with Willy William; \u201cX\u201d with Nicky Jam), Album of the Year and Best Urban Music Album (for his fifth LP, Vibras<\/em><\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n

Kendrick Lamar leads the 2019 Grammy Awards<\/a> with eight total nominations, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year (\u201cAll the Stars\u201d with SZA), Album of the Year (the Black Panther soundtrack) and Best Rap Performance (\u201cKing\u2019s Dead\u201d with Jay Rock, Future and James Blake).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
