That information will come from the Pitkin County Coroner\u2019s Office once the family is notified.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPatrol responded immediately and found the man unresponsive with no pulse or breathing,\u201d Aspen Skiing Co. spokesman Jeff Hanle said Sunday afternoon. \u201cThey began advanced life-saving procedures. They were unable to re-establish a pulse and the man was pronounced dead by the Pitkin County Coroner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur deepest sympathies and thoughts go out to the man\u2019s family and friends, and we are offering support and assistance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The jump is just under the Village Express lift, which was shut down for a brief period Sunday after the incident.<\/p>\n<p>The Makaha Park remained closed Sunday afternoon as ski patrollers continued their investigation at a jump.<\/p>\n<p>According to the resort\u2019s website, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aspensnowmass.com\/our-mountains\/snowmass\/parks-and-pipes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Makaha Park<\/a>\u00a0\u201coffers a logical next step up the progression ladder with its mix of intermediate and advanced features, ranging in size from medium to large. There are about 25 features in total, a progressive line of midsized jumps and about 15 jib features including all shapes of boxes and rails. Great area for learning new tricks and working on progression.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/news\/aspen-resident-donald-g-drapkin-passes-away-after-snowmass-ski-fall-last-week\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u00a0last reported death at Snowmass in the winter was in February 2016<\/a>\u00a0when well-known businessman and Aspen local Donald Drapkin on Feb. 15 fell from a standing position, hit his head but then got up. He died a week later from injuries sustained in the fall. Before that,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.summitdaily.com\/news\/skier-deaths\/in-memoriam\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">three people died<\/a>\u00a0in the spring of 2014 at Snowmass.<\/p>\n<p>Two men have died in the past two summers while mountain biking at the resort.\u00a0David Eckardt 62, of Woody Creek\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/news\/mountain-biker-61-dies-on-expert-valhalla-trail-at-snowmass-ski-area\/\">died in September 2018<\/a>\u00a0while riding the expert Valhalla trail, and David Duff, 67, of Kentucky\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/news\/breaking-man-dies-mountain-biking-on-snowmass-ski-area\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">died in July 2017<\/a>\u00a0on the same trail.<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.summitdaily.com\/news\/snowboarder-dies-sunday-morning-at-snowmass-resort-terrain-park\/\" target=\"_blank\">via:: Summit Daily<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ski patrollers at Snowmass Mountain Resort worked on their investigation Sunday afternoon after a 20-year-old snowboarder died attempting the first jump in the Makaha Terrain Park in the morning.
