Pearl Jam<\/a> will serve as the official ambassadors of Record Store Day<\/a> 2019, set to take place April 13th at independent record stores around the world.<\/p>\n

To accompany the announcement, Pearl Jam shared a video in which guitarist Mike McCready goes crate-digging and discusses the important role record stores have played in his life. The clip is interspersed with footage of Pearl Jam bashing out their their Riot Act<\/em><\/a> track, \u201cSave You,\u201d for a small crowd at a record store.<\/p>\n

\u201cIndependent record stores are hugely important to me, and have been ever since I was 12 years-old,\u201d McCready said in a statement. \u201cBefore I even really knew what they were \u2013 there was a certain feeling of \u2018this is a dream come true,\u2019 and it\u2019s a wonderland and there\u2019s so much to learn in here\u2026 and it\u2019s still that way.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cSupport every independent record store that you can\u2026 It kind of takes an effort, you have to look for something that you want; you have to talk to people. I had to talk to people to figure out which Aerosmith record to get first or anything back in the day. It\u2019s a place to learn. It\u2019s a place to have fun. And it\u2019s a place to discover new music.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last year\u2019s Record Store Day ambassador was the rap duo Run the Jewels<\/a>, while previous artists to hold the title include St. Vincent<\/a>, Metallica<\/a>, Iggy Pop, Jack White<\/a> and Chuck D<\/a>.
