So today is a good day for fans; the band just released a new song, \u201cBoyfriends,\u201d to mark Valentine\u2019s Day \u2013 with an all-GIF video made by gif production company WhatGifs.<\/p>\n<p>The song may not be the message some want to hear on Valentine\u2019s Day. (\u201cThey say they\u2019re gonna love you to the end of time \/ but they\u2019re not, not they\u2019re not \u2026 boyfriends.\u201d) The band has created a <a href=\"https:\/\/brokensocialscene.ca\/loversspit\/\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">site<\/a> where fans can send online cards to their loved ones.<\/p>\n<p>The song is from the band\u2019s EP coming out Friday, <em>Let\u2019s Try the After, Vol 1<\/em>. The band had previously debuted new songs including \u201cCan\u2019t Find My Heart\u201d and \u201c1972,\u201d from the EP.<\/p>\n<p>In 2017, the band\u2019s \u201csemi-leader\u201d Kevin Drew reflected\u00a0on why they\u2019ve lasted nearly two decades: \u201cPeople thought it was not going to work out from an ego perspective, but the reason it has comes down to the relationships,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/features\/interview\/broken-social-scene-are-somehow-still-friends-after-all-these-years\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">he told <em>Pitchfork<\/em><\/a>. \u201cThe dinners and birthdays and baby showers and weddings have kept coming.\u201c<\/p>\n<p>The band have a <a href=\"https:\/\/brokensocialscene.ca\/tour\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">series of dates<\/a> coming up including multi-night stands in Montreal, Los Angeles and Toronto.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/broken-social-scene-valentines-day-song-boyfriends-794760\/\" target=\"_blank\">via:: Rolling Stone<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Toronto indie-rock veterans Broken Social Scene don\u2019t put out a lot of music; they\u2019ve put out five albums in 20 years, and took a seven-year break between albums before 2017\u2019s Hug of Thunder.
