The Bridget Barkan-directed video for \u201cCity Life\u201d follows Escort\u2019s new lead singer Nicki B as she travels around New York City, dancing and singing the song on a subway platform, in a neon-lit club and a friend\u2019s apartment. Rae also appears in the video, relaxing in a fur coat on a park bench as she sings, \u201cI don\u2019t want to sleep tonight\/I want to live that city life\/Give me rhythm, give me vice\/I want to live that city life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em>City Life<\/em> follows Escort\u2019s 2015 album, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-album-reviews\/animal-nature-87377\/\"><em>Animal Nature<\/em><\/a>. The record was helmed by the group\u2019s co-producers Eugene Cho and JKriv and features guest appearances from ex-lead singer Adeline Mich\u00e8le (who\u2019s since <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/hear-escort-singer-adelines-funky-new-song-emeralds-695052\/\">embarked on a solo career<\/a>), multi-instrumentalist Brian Jackson and dub DJ Lone Ranger.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In a statement, Cho laid out the band\u2019s mission with <em>City Life<\/em> saying, \u201cThere\u2019s a difference between music you can dance to and <em>dance<\/em> music. We try to strike a balance \u2013 you can nod your head to it and feel a dance-y groove, but there\u2019s a specific direction we\u2019re coming from too. This is live dance music, and we try to make stuff we can share to a live experience \u2013 which is something that people don\u2019t really think about much anymore, but we do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Escort will embark on a North American tour in support of <em>City Life<\/em> April 17th at Elsewhere in Brooklyn, New York.
