{"id":793467,"date":"2019-02-27T07:12:03","date_gmt":"2019-02-27T14:12:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=800732"},"modified":"2019-02-27T07:12:03","modified_gmt":"2019-02-27T14:12:03","slug":"see-weezer-jimmy-fallon-sing-buddy-holly-as-barbershop-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/ksmt\/music-news\/see-weezer-jimmy-fallon-sing-buddy-holly-as-barbershop-group\/","title":{"rendered":"See Weezer, Jimmy Fallon Sing \u2018Buddy Holly\u2019 as Barbershop Group"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Screen-Shot-2019-02-27-at-6.08.36-AM.png\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"\/><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/weezer\/\" id=\"auto-tag_weezer\" data-tag=\"weezer\">Weezer<\/a> dusted off their power-pop anthem \u201cBuddy Holly\u201d on Tuesday\u2019s <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/tonight-show\/\" id=\"auto-tag_tonight-show\" data-tag=\"tonight-show\">Tonight Show<\/a><\/em>\u00a0with a comedic twist by <span class=\"s1\">joining <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/jimmy-fallon\/\" id=\"auto-tag_jimmy-fallon\" data-tag=\"jimmy-fallon\">Jimmy Fallon<\/a> and his barbershop-style vocal group, \u201cthe Ragtime Gals,\u201d for a late-night rendition.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>All four Weezer members<span class=\"s1\">\u2014frontman Rivers Cuomo, guitarist Brian Bell, bassist Scott Shriner and drummer Patrick Wilson\u2014adopted cartoonish vocal styles for their <em>a capella<\/em> version of the 1994 hit, with everyone dressed in matching, red-green-and-yellow jackets.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Later in the show, the group played a non-jokey take on \u201cLiving in L.A.,\u201d the latest single from their upcoming 13th LP <em>Weezer,<\/em> better known as \u201cthe Black Album.\u201d Cuomo and Bell joined played crunchy power chords in unison, with Shriner adding high falsetto vocals, bass harmonics and funky verse fills.
