{"id":793890,"date":"2019-03-15T11:44:07","date_gmt":"2019-03-15T17:44:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=808752"},"modified":"2019-03-15T11:44:07","modified_gmt":"2019-03-15T17:44:07","slug":"hear-motley-crues-metal-rendition-of-madonnas-like-a-virgin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/ksmt\/music-news\/hear-motley-crues-metal-rendition-of-madonnas-like-a-virgin\/","title":{"rendered":"Hear Motley Crue\u2019s Metal Rendition of Madonna\u2019s \u2018Like a Virgin\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/9974026jW.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>M\u00f6tley Cr\u00fce have unveiled their metal rendition of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/madonna\/\" id=\"auto-tag_madonna\" data-tag=\"madonna\">Madonna<\/a>\u2019s \u201cLike a Virgin,\u201d an unlikely cover choice and one of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/motley-crue-the-dirt-est-1981-soundtrack-798699\/\">a handful of new recordings<\/a> the reunited hair metal band made for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/the-dirt-motley-crue-netflix-movie-801049\/\">the Netflix biopic <em>The Dirt<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/motley-crue-the-dirt-soundtrack-interview-798822\/\">a recent interview with <em>Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a>, Nikki Sixx explained how the Madonna cover went from \u201cbad idea but pretty funny\u201d to genuine realization. Sixx first demoed his minor-key version before bringing \u201cLike a Virgin\u201d to band mates<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI went over to Tommy [Lee]\u2019s house, and [producer] Bob Rock was over there,\u201d Sixx told <em>Rolling Stone<\/em>. \u201cI said, \u2018I\u2019m gonna play you something and go in the other room so in case you don\u2019t like it, you won\u2019t punch me in the face.\u2019 And Tommy started laughing. I started playing it and all of a sudden, you just saw Tommy\u2019s face light up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI heard the demo and it was like, \u2018This is fucking genius,\u2019\u201d Lee added. \u201cWhen it drops down into half-time, it gets so heavy. This is right up our alley and sort of ironic that Vince [Neil] is singing \u2018Like a Virgin,\u2019 which is not even close. Or for that matter of fact, all of us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>The Dirt<\/em> premieres on Netflix on March 22nd.
