Chance the Rapper<\/a> should be busy. He\u2019s a father, recently married his longtime partner in March, is prepping the release of his debut studio album in July<\/a> and playing Woodstock 50<\/a> in August. Nevertheless, Chance still found time to ask the hard hitting questions on Twitter, during a day when most people were still busy dragging Daniel Caesar<\/a> over the coals for earnestly asking, \u201cWhy are we being so mean to white people right now?\u201d<\/p>\n

The question<\/a> that ignited the maelstrom was simple: \u201cSo yall think shit been goin on for a billion years? Idk.\u201d Chance then followed that observation up by giving \u201cthis joint\u201d<\/a> aka Earth, \u201cA million [years] on the high side.\u201d But the icing on the public schools are failing our children cake was the earnest question<\/a>, \u201cDoes \u2018dinosaur\u2019 refer to how old they are or just that they was animals and not humans?\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, I\u2019m not here to co-sign the white man\u2019s science, but it\u2019s hard to fathom where to begin in this cornucopia of ignorance. By most accounts the world is around 4.54 billion years old and according to Space<\/a>, has an \u201cerror range of 50 million years.\u201d I\u2019m a rap writer who almost failed biology and geology, but radiometric dating seems more precise than throwing a wild guess at the wall concerning the age of Mother Earth.<\/p>\n

Thankfully for Chance, the dinosaur question is far more simple. Sir Richard Owens created the name \u201cDinosauria\u201d in 1842 to describe what he believed were \u201cterrible lizards,\u201d reports the BBC<\/a>. So the name \u201cdinosaur\u201d has more to do with how terrible the giant, scaly chickens are and less to do with their age. Either way, it\u2019s nice to know Chance the Psuedoscientist is still curious.<\/p>\n
