{"id":794035,"date":"2019-03-21T22:07:41","date_gmt":"2019-03-22T04:07:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=811218"},"modified":"2019-03-21T22:07:41","modified_gmt":"2019-03-22T04:07:41","slug":"hear-salaam-remis-slick-remix-of-marvin-gayes-symphony","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/ksmt\/music-news\/hear-salaam-remis-slick-remix-of-marvin-gayes-symphony\/","title":{"rendered":"Hear Salaam Remi\u2019s Slick Remix of Marvin Gaye\u2019s \u2018Symphony\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/marvin-gaye-1983-portrait.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\">Producer Salaam Remi (Nas, Amy Winehouse) unveiled a new remix of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/marvin-gaye\/\" id=\"auto-tag_marvin-gaye\" data-tag=\"marvin-gaye\">Marvin Gaye<\/a>\u2019s \u201cSymphony\u201d that will appear on the upcoming release of the late soul legend\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/marvin-gaye-lost-album-youre-the-man-release-791201\/\">lost album, <em>You\u2019re the Man<\/em><\/a>, out March 29th.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Gaye recorded \u201cSymphony\u201d during the sessions for <em>Let\u2019s Get It On<\/em> and&nbsp;it later appeared on his posthumous 1985 album, <em>Dream of a Lifetime<\/em>. For his remix, Remi boosted the orchestral elements of the original and anchored them with a dusty drum shuffle, all in the service of highlighting Gaye\u2019s vocals as he sings, \u201cLike violins, music begins\/It starts to swell, then I can tell\/That pretty soon we going to be in tune\/Our hearts will be in perfect harmony.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cSymphony\u201d is one of three tracks Remi remixed for <em>You\u2019re the Man<\/em>, along with the previously released \u201cMy Last Chance\u201d and \u201cI\u2019d Give My Life for You.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em>You\u2019re the Man<\/em> was supposed to be Gaye\u2019s follow-up to his 1971 classic, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-album-reviews\/whats-going-on-251498\/\"><em>What\u2019s Going On<\/em><\/a>. Tracks for the would-be album were recorded in Detroit and Los Angeles during a particularly prolific period but, save for the titular single, none of the songs were released at the time.
