Summit High School will present its spring musical, \u201cPeter and the Starcatcher,\u201d from March 28 to March 31. The musical is a prequel to Peter Pan, and was written by Rick Elice with music by Wayne Baker, based on a novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson.<\/p>\n
From marauding pirates and jungle tyrants to unwilling comrades and unlikely heroes, the show is playful as it explores the bonds of friendship, duty and love. A young orphan and his mates are shipped off from Victorian England to a distant island ruled by the evil King Zarboff. They know nothing of the mysterious trunk in the captain\u2019s cabin. At sea, the boys are discovered by a precocious young girl named Molly when the ship is taken over by pirates \u2014 led by the fearsome Black Stache, a villain determined to claim the trunk and its treasure for his own.<\/p>\n
With a dozen high school actors portraying more than 40 unforgettable characters, \u2018Peter and the Starcatcher\u2019 uses clever stagecraft and the limitless possibilities of imagination to bring the story to life.<\/p>\n
\u2018Peter and the Starcatcher\u2019 is produced by Scott Porter, directed by Christopher Alleman with set design by Ben Whitmore and costumes by Josh Blanchard. Performances are March 28, 29 and 30 at 7 p.m., and March 31 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for all other guests. Tickets will be available at the door an hour before each show begins.
