Hirsh secured a fourth-place finish and time of 1 minute and 4.63 seconds in the event. Hirsh’s time earned the Tigers girls five of their nine overall points in the team competition.

Hirsh’s fellow senior Resignolo earned the team a point with her seventh-place showing in the 800 meters, running to a time of 2:30.31. Junior Confer also ran to a seventh-place showing, crossing the finish line in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.72.

Confer’s fellow junior hurdler Stimson ran to her second consecutive top 10 in a hurdles competition in as many weeks, this time taking ninth place in the 300-meter hurdles (51.67).

The Tigers best performance in the relays in Fort Collins came in the 4×100-meter relay. In the event, Confer joined with teammates Kenzie Ricardi, PK Vinzce and Cashema Hermans to run to a time of 55.76, good enough for a seventh-place finish among 12 teams. Summit also ran well in the 4×200-meter relay, where Ricardi and Hirsh teamed with Elizabeth Darst and Leila Nearpass to cross the finish line in eighth place with a time of 2:04.23.

Though the Summit boys team did not place at the Fort Collins competition, the Tigers had two individuals place in the top 10 in their respective races. In the 1,600-meter run, Tiger junior Jeremiah Vaille crossed the finish line in 10th place with a time of 4:59.57, 32 seconds off of the winning pace of Yonas Mogos of Gateway. In the 3,200-meter run, Tigers sophomore Sam Burke ran to a time of 10:55.59, good enough for ninth place and over a minute off of the winning pace of Calbert Guest of Fort Collins.

Summit track and field will be back in action on Friday at the Spartan Spike Invitational at Berthoud High School.

Lacrosse

The Summit High girls lacrosse team is riding a two-game winning streak after an emphatic 19-3 win over John F. Kennedy of Denver on Saturday.

The victory improved the Tigers record on the season to 2-1 after a victory earlier in the week over Denver South by the score of 14-11. During Saturday’s win over JFK, Summit received goals from nine different players, including five from Aldyn Hart, four from Maddi Markel and three from Maison Keen. The Tigers’ Bridget Costello also found the back of the net twice, as did Annika Fowles, while Haley Davis, Alyssa Jackman and Jazlyn Smith each contributed a goal each. In net, Tigers goaltender Alice Porter made six saves.

“The girls worked together as a team with strong cutting and passive offensively,” Summit coach Merri McKissoc said. “They worked hard to win 50-50 plays, which turned into us being able to control the pace of the game since we possessed the ball.

The Tigers will conclude their homestand on Tuesday when they host Mountain League rival Steamboat Springs at 4 p.m. at Summit High School.

The Tigers boys lacrosse team had less success this weekend, losing to Vail Mountain School by the score of 14-2 on Friday afternoon.

The Summit boys return to action on Tuesday at 4 p.m., at home versus Steamboat Springs.

Girls soccer

The Summit High School varsity girls soccer team lost a pair of games last week to drop their record on the season to 1-2.

After opening up their campaign with an 8-0 victory over Rifle, the Tigers lost 6-0 to Glenwood Springs at home on Tuesday before they lost 1-0 to Eagle Valley on Thursday. Tigers junior goalie Anna Tomlinson stopped 11 shots in the loss to Glenwood Springs.

The Tigers are scheduled to round out their four-game homestand on Monday when they host Vail Mountain School.

Baseball

The Summit High School varsity baseball team’s record dipped to 0-5 on the young season after a weekend doubleheader sweep at the hands of Rifle, which followed a road loss to Centaurus earlier in the week.

On Tuesday at Centaurus, the Tigers kept the game knotted until the Warriors poured on three runs in the third inning, followed by three more in the fifth and four runs in the sixth. Tigers sophomore pitcher Ryley Cibula struck out one batter and relented three hits in 4 2/3 innings on the mound.

On Saturday at Rifle, the Tigers fell behind 9-0 in the opener before scoring two runs over the final two innings. Summit received hits from freshman K.J. Slaugh, sophomore Zach Misch and sophomore Foster Kruger in the opener, including runs-batted-in by Slaugh and Kruger. Cibula struck out seven Bears batters in the game while relenting five runs.

In the nightcap, Summit scored seven runs across the first two innings versus Rifle before the Bears pulled away with seven runs in the third inning. That third-inning outburst led to a 16-7 lead and eventual 19-10 win for Rifle. The Tigers totaled five hits in the contest.

Summit is scheduled to return to the diamond with the Arvada Tournament, which is scheduled for Monday through Saturday.

via:: Summit Daily

The Summit High School varsity boys lacrosse team competes against Vail Mountain School at Tiger Stadium on Friday night.
