The foundation also hopes to address issues like climate change, development assistance, nature conservation and endangered species, while doing work in Avicii\u2019s home country of Sweden, as well as abroad.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cTim wanted to make a difference \u2014 starting a foundation in his name is our way to honor his memory and continue to act in his spirit,\u201d the family said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Avicii died last April of an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/avicii-died-of-apparent-suicide-630336\/\">apparent suicide<\/a> at the age of 28. The musician had been at the forefront of the EDM movement of the early 2010s, with crossover hits like \u201cLevels\u201d and \u201cWake Me Up.\u201d After several years of relentless work, Avicii <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/avicii-retires-from-touring-via-open-letter-to-fans-101059\/\">stopped touring<\/a> in 2016, though the following year he returned the studio and released a new EP, <em>Av\u012bci (01)<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Following his death, Avicii\u2019s family revealed that the he had been struggling with mental health issues. \u201cHe really struggled with thoughts about meaning, life, happiness,\u201d they said at the time. \u201cHe could not go on any longer.
