A wistful spring tune, \u201cAll Of Our Yesterdays\u201d is a reflection on the past with Shakespearian roots. \u201cThe phrase \u2018all of our yesterdays\u2019 comes from the play Macbeth,\u201d DeMarco said in a statement. \u201cAlso I think there\u2019s a <em>Star Trek<\/em> episode from 1969 with the same title; very cool.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As with many of the Canadian indie-rocker\u2019s songs, \u201cAll Of Our Yesterdays\u201d features a blithely laid-back guitar rhythm alongside somber lyrics about the passing of time. \u201cAnother day has come and let you down\/All of our yesterdays have gone now\/Tearin\u2019 up\/Lookin\u2019 for a shoulder to prop you up,\u201d he sings.<\/p>\n<p>DeMarco was inspired by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/britpop\/\" id=\"auto-tag_britpop\" data-tag=\"britpop\">Britpop<\/a> while writing the single. \u201cI had just seen a documentary about Oasis before writing this song, and I was trying to write a gigantic rock and roll hit with my renewed love for the band,\u201d he admits. \u201cI didn\u2019t really get close to that at all, but I\u2019m happy with the song that came out hahahahaha.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Here Comes the Cowboy<\/em> will be released May 10th, DeMarco\u2019s first record since 2017\u2019s <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-album-reviews\/review-mac-demarco-unfurls-wiseacre-wisdom-on-this-old-dog-118761\/\">This Old Dog<\/a><\/em>.
