Have you ever noticed that all pre-‘Nimrod’ Green Day<\/strong> albums have some unique tuning? Some are tuned down half a step – others a full step. <\/p>\n

Well, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has revealed why that’s the case – and it’s kind of a funny story. <\/p>\n

When a fan commented on Billie Joe’s instagram post overnight sharing “funny how your voice is lower in 1992 than 2019″<\/em> the frontman leapt in to drop some additional facts, replying “funny story. We never used guitar tuners until ‘Dookie’. Mike and I always tuned to each other.. we didn’t realize until later we were tuned down half a stap to wole stop down. We accidentally had to tune down until ‘Nimrod’.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Incredible scenes.<\/p>\n

So basically, it was a happy mistake that Green Day’s first albums were downtuned. <\/p>\n
