Daneya Esgar, a Pueblo Democrat and state budget writer who sits on the legislature\u2019s powerful Joint Budget Committee.<\/p>\n<p>The deal was reached as the House was debating the state\u2019s $30.5 billion budget on Thursday and after the Senate&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/coloradosun.com\/2019\/03\/29\/transportation-funding-colorado-budget-senate\/\">agreed to spend an extra $106 million<\/a>&nbsp;on transportation on top of the initial $230 million that was set aside.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement \u2014 which has support from both parties in both chambers \u2014 drops that extra appropriation to $70 million, but still represents a major win for Republicans who have been battling to find more money for the state\u2019s roads and bridges.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats in the House say education funding will not be tapped to pay for the extra transportation funds.<\/p>\n<p>Read the full story via&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/coloradosun.com\/2019\/04\/04\/colorado-transportation-funding-legislature\/\">The Colorado Sun<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>The&nbsp;Colorado&nbsp;Sun&nbsp;is a reader-supported news organization dedicated to covering the people, places and policies that matter in&nbsp;Colorado.
