It’s a free event and organizers say no students will be turned away.

The dresses and other accessories are being donated by people like Alicia Rau, owner of Bête Noire and Vinyl Cosmetics. Rau will be at Sunday’s expo doing alterations, and she’s also donating a number of items, including a wealth of prom dresses, clutches, necklaces, earrings and other accessories.

Rau said she got involved with the event hoping that it would remove some of the financial strains prom can put on local families.

“There is an economic discrepancy across the county, and we don’t think that should be a barrier to enjoying prom,” Rau said of her reasons for supporting the Teen Prom Closet expo.

Some of the dresses are new with tags. Others have been made by designer brands and were so lightly worn the dress might as well be new.

But the Teen Prom Closet isn’t meant to feel like a handout. Rather, organizers want to pamper the students like any regular prom expo, as they try help make everything perfect.

With that, the expo will also come complete with hors d’oeuvres and mocktails of sparkling cider for the students to enjoy.

And for any would-be promgoers who already have a dress, the expo will also have a professional makeup artist on-site providing helpful tutorials, along with some Vinyl Cosmetics giveaways, and one lucky winner will even receive a prom gift basket.

For more about Teen Prom Closet, email Neel at rosemary.neel@summitcountyco.gov or go online to SummitCountyLibraries.org and click on the “Teens” tab.

via:: Summit Daily

The owner of Bête Noire and Vinyl Cosmetics, Alicia Rau, is donating a number of dresses and other accessories to Teen Prom Closet, an expo set for Sunday in Silverthorne in which local students can scope out some of the latest feminine prom fashions and even take one home free of charge.Courtesy of Alicia Rau […]

[99

0":"post-794676","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-local-news
"publishpress_future_workflow_manual_trigger":
["GET
