They move around the floor in dramatic poses, sprawl out on their backs and lay their hands on each other \u2014 culminating in a scene with songwriter Zach Condon collapsing under their collective weight.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cAfter the psychosomatic session that inspired the [cover art for Beirut\u2019s recently issued LP, <em>Gallipoli<\/em>], I ran another session with<\/span><span class=\"s2\">&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"s1\">Zach to guide a new video for \u2018When I Die,&#8217;\u201d Brody Condon said in a statement. \u201cSomething was missing. Later I learned the song<\/span><span class=\"s2\">&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"s1\">was loosely about a fictional suicide cult, so I facilitated a group encounter with the band before<\/span><span class=\"s2\">&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"s1\">their show in Berlin. I was surprised by their willingness to test each other\u2019s boundaries, and<\/span><span class=\"s2\">&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"s1\">spontaneously embody elements of Zach\u2019s inner zone. They told me these intimate processes<\/span><span class=\"s2\">&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"s1\">didn\u2019t feel so differently from what they already do on stage.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cWhen I Die\u201d appears on the February-issued <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-album-reviews\/review-indie-rock-internationalists-beirut-return-with-the-haunting-gallipoli-787811\/\"><em>Gallipoli<\/em><\/a>, Beirut\u2019s fifth album.
