The town and county voted to allow e-bikes on the Summit County Recpath on Tuesday.<\/strong><br \/><em>Hugh Carey \/ hcarey@summitdaily.com<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Breckenridge Town Council passed three separate agenda items Tuesday night, including a measure to loosen controls e-bikes, a land swap with the Summit School District and a fact-finding resolution for a potential annexation, all in unanimous votes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">As expected, Breckenridge followed the Summit Board of County Commissioners\u2019 lead and easily supported an ordinance on second reading to allow Class 1 e-bikes on the Summit County Recpath in town.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The county controls the vast majority of the recpath system, and a similar measure was passed by county commissioners, also on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">With that, e-bikes will soon be allowed on all town streets and designated motorized routes, but they are still not permitted on designated non-motorized, natural-surface trails.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Meanwhile, Breckenridge Town Council also supported on first reading a land swap with the Summit School District, in which the district would get two Blue 52 Townhomes and 10 acres of town-owned land on the MaCain property while the town would receive an 8.7 acres of vacant land owned by the school district on Block 11.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">In another agenda item, council supported a fact-finding resolution regarding a potential annexation of The Kenington Townhomes off Huron Road.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.summitdaily.com\/news\/local\/breckenridge-council-moves-on-e-bikes-land-swap-resolution-regarding-potential-annexation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">via:: Summit Daily<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A fleet dockless electric bikes, activated by riders with the company&#8217;s smartphone app, are shown outside Broken Compass Brewery on Tuesday, Aug. 7, in Breckenridge.
