The track appears in the closing credits to the upcoming John biopic, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/rocketman\/\"><em>Rocketman<\/em><\/a>, and on the film\u2019s soundtrack.<\/p>\n<p>The uplifting duet, which follows <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/watch-taron-egerton-perform-elton-john-rocket-man-830217\/\">Egerton\u2019s rendition of the movie\u2019s title track<\/a>, highlights the uncanny similarity between the singers\u2019 voices \u2014 fitting, as Egerton plays a young John in the biopic. \u201cI\u2019m gonna love me again, check in on my very best friend,\u201d the pair belt on the chorus over a Motown-styled groove.<\/p>\n<p>In <em>Rocketman<\/em>, which hits theaters May 31st, Egerton portrays the acclaimed rock star during his rise to stardom. <em>Rocketman: Music From the Motion Picture<\/em>, out May 24th, features the actor fronting producer\/composer Giles Martin\u2019s re-imagined versions of John songs, including hits like \u201cSaturday Night\u2019s Alright for Fighting,\u201d \u201cI Want Love,\u201d \u201cCrocodile Rock,\u201d \u201cTiny Dancer\u201d and \u201cYour Song.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c(I\u2019m Gonna) Love Me Again\u201d was written specifically for the film, with Giles Martin and Greg Kurstin credited as producers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was so important that the music I composed and recorded had to be sung by Taron,\u201d John said in a recent statement. \u201cI wanted his interpretation of me, through Bernie\u2019s lyrics [and] my music \u2014 not just acting. I left Taron in the hands of Giles Martin, who I trusted implicitly because he\u2019s brilliant. I didn\u2019t want to be in Taron\u2019s shadows, watching over the process, I trusted them to do what they needed to do, artistically, and listening back I\u2019ve been astonished with the results.
