{"id":797257,"date":"2019-07-01T09:30:34","date_gmt":"2019-07-01T15:30:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.summitdaily.com\/?p=368207"},"modified":"2019-07-02T08:10:46","modified_gmt":"2019-07-02T14:10:46","slug":"resident-admits-to-killing-bear-in-community-near-denver","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/ksmt\/local-news\/resident-admits-to-killing-bear-in-community-near-denver\/","title":{"rendered":"Resident admits to killing bear in community near Denver"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CASTLE PINES, Colo. \u2014 Wildlife officials say a resident has admitted to killing a bear found in a community near Denver out of concern it was trying to enter their home.<\/p>\n<p>The body of the sow bear was found Friday at the base of a tree in Castle Pines, with two of her cubs in the branches above.<\/p>\n<p>Colorado Parks and Wildlife says the resident told officers Friday evening that the bear was killed early Thursday. It\u2019s lawful for a person to kill a bear if their personal safety is threatened but they must report it within five days.<\/p>\n<p>The agency says it\u2019s still investigating to make sure it has all the facts.<\/p>\n<p>The two cubs were taken to a wildlife rehabilitation center near Del Norte.
