FRISCO \u2013 The Colorado Chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers will host a free film screening of \u201cColorado\u2019s Moose,\u201d followed by a Q&A session with filmmaker Sean Ender, Oct. 2 at HighSide Brewing in Frisco.<\/p>\n

Slated to take place from 6:30\u20139 p.m., the screening will showcase the Colorado filmmaker\u2019s new film, which is his first hour-long documentary. In the film\u2019s director\u2019s statement<\/a> on the film\u2019s website, Ender describes the documentary as \u201can incredible story that has yet to be told on the big screen, but one that has helped shape the wildness of Colorado\u2019s landscape and create a wildlife viewing experience unlike anything else in the state.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ender also produced the film, which thoroughly details the story of the reintroduction of moose to Colorado.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce transient to the state,\u201d the film\u2019s plot outline reads, \u201cthe Shiras moose was reintroduced into Colorado in the late 1970s. The species success has provided new tourism opportunities for wildlife watchers and sportsmen alike. Still a rare animal to see in the wilderness, wildlife managers remain responsible for managing sustainable moose populations and striking a balance between the public, ranchers and wildlife who all use the land to survive. The film combines captivating stories from biologists, wildlife managers, photographers, hunters and ranchers with stunning footage of moose and majestic scenics of the Colorado Rockies in this tremendous story of wildlife management.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the director\u2019s statement, Ender adds that the beginnings of \u201cColorado\u2019s Moose\u201d came to be in 2016, when he decided to take his camera to the mountains in order to film moose \u201csimply as a professional exercise in filming wildlife.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFilming these incredible and enormous animals was a thrilling experience,\u201d Ender continued, \u201cthat led me to research and study the story of their reintroduction to my home state. The deeper I delved into the history of the moose reintroduction, the more I became enraptured not only by how these animals were returned to the landscape, but also how managers continue working to achieve healthy and sustainable populations.\u201d<\/p>\n
