FRISCO \u2014 The Summit County Sheriff\u2019s Office is investigating a threatening social media post discovered Friday, Sept. 20, by students at Summit Middle School in Frisco.<\/p>\n
At about 7:45 a.m., the Sheriff\u2019s Office was informed of a threatening social media post after two students told school staff about the post. Sheriff\u2019s deputies, along with Summit School District Officials and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are working to determine the origin of the post. The Sheriff\u2019s Office is also providing an increased law enforcement presence at the middle school throughout the day.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Summit County Sheriff\u2019s Office takes all threats to the community seriously,\u201d Sheriff Jaime FitzSimons said. \u201cAt this time, we have no reason to believe that there is a security or safety risk to students, staff or facilities. I encourage families to continue to talk with their children about safety and the importance about reporting any concerns promptly to parents, school officials, law enforcement or Safe2Tell Colorado.\u201d<\/p>\n
FitzSimons continued to say that community safety is based around communication, vigilance and education, and that everyone in the county shares a responsibility to be part of the solution.<\/p>\n
