The team of physicians at Vail-Summit Orthopaedics & Neurosurgery believe that investing in the community is the best way to strengthen it. That\u2019s why they contribute their own time, skills and dollars to help causes that lift up Summit County.<\/p>\n

\nhave a naturally altruistic group of doctors, which is something special in and
\nof itself,\u201d said Cortis Loukes, VSON\u2019s director of marketing.<\/p>\n

After
\nmore than 40 years in Summit County, VSON remains committed to its mission to
\nnot only keep residents healthy and active, but also to support other causes
\nthat do the same.<\/p>\n

Contributing to overall wellness<\/strong><\/p>\n

VSON
\nwants to keep the quality of life in Summit County as world-class as its
\npeople, landscapes and recreation. The legacy of VSON\u2019s community involvement
\nwas created by Drs. Abbott, Gottlieb, and Janes (recently retired), and some of
\nthe original VSON surgeons.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat
\ngroup of individuals was highly invested in the future of Summit County in
\nterms of high-quality, community-centered care,\u201d according to VSON. \u201cOur
\ncurrent group of doctors have taken it to heart and want to continue the legacy
\nof community involvement that these fine gentlemen set.\u201d<\/p>\n

Support for local causes<\/strong><\/p>\n

VSON
\nlooks to support causes that strengthen the community. The list of organizations
\nit supports is extensive, but includes local nonprofits \u2014 such as The
\nBreckenridge Film Festival, Soup for the Soul, and Bright Future Foundation \u2014
\narea schools, arts and culture organizations, skiing and snowboarding clubs
\nTeam Breck and Team Summit, local semi-professional hockey, up and coming local
\nathletes and more.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously,
\none of our big goals as an orthopaedic group is to keep Summit County active
\nand thriving. We are lucky to live in one of the healthiest areas in the world,
\nand we love to get out their and play, just like our patients,\u201d said Dr. Erik
\nDorf. \u201cSo if we see someone or something that shares the same values as us and
\nthere is a synergy there, we want to support what they are doing.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s
\ncommon for a VSON physician to point out a specific local organization that he
\nor she wants VSON to support.<\/p>\n

\u201cI
\nthink that attitude comes from having such strong roots here, and I love being
\npart of a team with that mindset of community involvement,\u201d Loukes said. \u201cWhen
\nit comes to investing time and energy into the health and well-being of Summit
\nCounty, you can\u2019t fake it, and you can\u2019t buy it!\u201d<\/p>\n

VSON\u2019s
\nCertified Athletic Trainers are spending their evenings and weekends looking
\nafter local athletes at local sporting events ranging from youth soccer to
\nsemi-professional hockey.<\/p>\n

VSON
\nhas also amped up its support for events that are bringing new value to the
\ncommunity, Loukes said. VSON recently served as one of the main sponsors for
\nthe AVONFest 970 Triathlon in Vail, as well as the Kids Adventure Games, and
\nhas plans to support several new events in the Town of Frisco.<\/p>\n
